Masterclass Participants
How many active participants will be selected?
Up to 8 active participants will be selected to perform and receive direct coaching from Sumi Jo.
What repertoire should I prepare?
Participants should prepare up to three opera arias and/or art songs. One or two works will be studied during the masterclass, subject to time and at Sumi Jo's discretion.
Will an accompanist be provided?
Yes. An official accompanist will be provided for the masterclass.
Is the session recorded?
Yes. The masterclass may be recorded for private archival and educational purposes only. Recordings will not be livestreamed or publicly distributed without permission
Audience
Do I need opera knowledge to attend?
No. The masterclass is open to everyone, including music lovers, students, educators, and those new to opera.
Can I attend only half the day?
Yes. Audience members are welcome to attend for part or all of the masterclass.
What is included in my ticket?
General Admission: Access to the full public masterclass.
Premium Admission: Access to the masterclass with reserved seating in the front section of the auditorium.

The event will be held at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, conveniently located near Parliament Station and several tram routes along Collins Street.

The Sofitel is easily accessible by Melbourne’s public transport network, with nearby tram stops (Spring Street - Stop 8) and Parliament Station within walking distance. We recommend allowing extra time to make your way to the venue, particularly if you are attending as an active participant.

Accessibility
The Sofitel Melbourne on Collins provides accessible entry and lift access throughout the venue. The lifts are accessible from the carpark as well as the ground floor of Collins Place and the main Sofitel Melbourne on Collins entrance. However, the Arthur Streeton Auditorium is not wheelchair accessible from either entrance. If you require any specific accessibility assistance to attend the masterclass, please let our team know via email (admin@hellomusic.com.au) and we can provide directions to and a team member to assist you at the accessible entrance.
